The server is now responding correctly and all services are back to normal.
There may be a delay of up to an hour on some email as there is a bit of a backlog of mail for the system to process.
The issue was caused by a configuration error in the centos yum repositories configuration files that was preventing it from connecting correctly to the centos mirrors to download important updates for centos. This combined with a file system error on the /var partition caused the server to fail last night and we have been working thru the night to resolve the issue and to rebuild everything
if anyone does have any queries or problems since this outage and update, now that its complete please open a support ticket with the details and we will be happy to assist
