As part of our commitment to providing the best possible service we can to our clients we will be upgrading the server hardware that the Aspen server is running on over the the weekend of the 19th and 20th April 2008
The current servers hardware is getting long in the tooth,
The current servers specs are:
Dual Xeon 2.8 CPU's
2Gb Ram
2 x 160Gb SATA I drives
100Mbit uplink port
And is running the now very outdated RedHat 3.0 Enterprise Operating System
The new servers specifications are:
Dual Quad Core Xeon 5335 CPU's (that equates to 8cpu's)
4GB ECC DDR2 Ram
2 x 250Gb SATA II drives
1000Mbit uplink port
The new server will be running the latest Centos5 operating system along with the latest CPanel, PHP and perl versions.
We will also be moving the server to Seattle, which will provide faster ping times for almost all Australian users as there is less hops and different routing involved.
This upgrade is a major event for this server and the outcome of the upgrade will offer a significant improvement to load times of sites on the server, and will also remove the ongoing load issues with email delivery and delays and high loads on Mail Scanner that the server has suffered in the past.
This upgrade will mean all sites and all resellers will be assigned new IP addresses to their accounts and name servers.
We will be emailing out details on this with further information starting tomorrow and will keep all clients up-to-date on this via this post in the forums and also by sending out announcements via the help desk
If anyone has any queries relating to this major upgrade please let us know.
