As you will be aware we will shortly be introducing some security updates and changes to our server configuration, and these changes will affect osCommerce stores

We urge all users of this popular script to update their stores as soon as possible.

Fork Projects such as osCMax, CRE Loaded, and others including my own release LoadedAU (http://www.snowtech.com.au/) will all be affected.

If you have a store installed using Fantastico or cPanel's installers or if you have installed a standard release of the script yourself please read on for details on what is required. if you have a fork based version or are unsure what your running please check with the scripts developers or drop in a ticket to the helpdesk and we may be able to point you in the right direction.

The upgrade process may involve up to 3 steps depending on what version your currently running and what updates you have already applied.

1) osCommerce MS 2.2 prior to 17th August 2008 - 20060817 release

Please refer to the changelog instructions at http://www.oscommerce.com/ext/extras...e-20060817.txt (http://www.oscommerce.com/ext/extras/update-20060817.txt) which outlines the changes required to bring it up to this release. once these changes are done move onto the next step

2) osCommerce MS 2.2 release candidate 1 (RC1)

Please refer to the changelog instructions at http://www.oscommerce.com/ext/extras/upgrade-22rc1.html which outlines the changes required to bring it up to this release. once these changes are done move onto the next step

3) osCommerce MS 2.2 release candidate 2 (RC2)

Please refer to the changelog instructions at http://www.oscommerce.com/ext/upgrade-22rc2.html which outlines the changes required to bring it up to this release. once these changes are done you are uptodate, register globals compatible and should have no issues once your server is updated with the new security patches.

PLEASE NOTE :

some 3rd party addon modules may or may not be compatible with register globals. You would need to refer to the contribution pages at http://addons.oscommerce.com (http://addons.oscommerce.com/) to determine if there are any issues or updates required

The osCommerce forums at http://forums.oscommerce.com (http://forums.oscommerce.com/) may also be a source of information on this

For those clients who are not comfortable with performing these updates themselves we can offer an upgrade service. Our standard hourly coding and web development fee applies, please lodge a ticket at the helpdesk and we can take a look at your site and quote on the process.
