As some of you have noticed there has been a series of events and outages occurring on the BawBaw server with a marked increase in these occurrences in the last few days, with some serious speed and connection issues occurring yesterday We believe that this has been caused by a combination of issues, including constant issues with the data centres network and routing, issues with the servers hardware and a possible security issue in the servers operating system caused by a resellers accounts having some insecure scripts allowing some malicious code to be uploaded onto the server Because of the nature and seriousness of these issues we have decided to move to new hardware and network infrastructure in the Equinix data centre in Mascot in Sydney A new AMD Opteron 248 server with dual SATA drives and 2Gb of ram is currently being prepared and configured with a view to migrating all clients to this new hardware over the next 24 hours. The new server is more powerfull than the current BawBaw server and we have a lot more faith in the Equinix network to provide a more stable and faster environment for everyone. As a result of this migration resellers and general hosting clients will be assigned new IP addresses as we will be operating from a different IP range. We will be updating all clients individually with new details via a new welcome email to be sent out overnight and tomorrow with the new server login information There may be some downtime for some sites due to the migration process but we are going to try and minimise this as much as possible and where possible have this occur overnight tonight and overnight on Saturday night should this be required. if anyone has any queries regarding this move please let us know
