Server Outage

There is an unknown issue causing load and stability issues on the server

I am currently working on the issue and have just rebooted the server to try and resolve the problem

services should be back to normal in a few minutes time

unfortunately we have not yet been able to identify the cause of the problem, and we are suspecting a possible hardware fault is causing the problem, possibly a power supply unit

We have asked someone from the datacentre to hook up a console to the server to take a look at the problem and we are awaiting an update form them

We are currently running a manual low level fsck on the server

This can take a while to complete and once done the server will be brought back online and managed

At this stage it appears file system corruption is the cause of the problem, and there may be an ongoing potential for problems.

We are looking at the possibility of replacing the hard drive to correct the problem.

Yes the server has stopped responding so ive put it for a reboot

All services have returned except http

Steve believes he has now been able to identify the problem and is working on a fix

The server is now going for a reboot to implement the fix and then a manual fsck which we are hoping will fix things
