Due to some Internet Service Providers upgrading to the latest version of BIND (BIND9), DNS requests coming from those providers could be returning a DNS error or a 'site not found' error for your or your client sites. The Internet Service Providers running BIND9 now require an additional 2 DNS entries in your zone files which are directing your 2 private nameservers to the correct IP addresses.
*** We recommend you perform these changes even if you are not experiencing any DNS issues, as some of your clients may be or they may arise in the future. This will only take 2-5 minutes ***
You should have your 2 nameserver IPs ready to perform these changes. If you do not know your nameserver IPs, please open your welcome email received when your account was set-up and find them listed as:
ns1.yourdomain.com
123.123.123.123
ns2.yourdomain.com
123.123.123.124
Please follow the instructions below:
1. Log into your WebHostManager.
2. Go to 'Edit a DNS Zone'.
3. Select your main domain and click 'Edit'.
4. Scroll down to where it says 'Add New Entries Below this Line'. Do *NOT* edit or delete any records above this line.
5. In the first form field, enter 'ns1'.
6. The second form field should say '14400'. Do NOT edit this field.
7. Then a text should say 'IN'.
8. The next dropdown box should say 'A'. If 'A' is selected, leave it. If not, select 'A'.
9. In the next form field, enter the ns1 nameserver's IP address. This should be something like '123.123.123.123' (see your welcome email). Simply enter the IP address, no punctuation or other text.
10. Leave the next 2 fields on the same line empty.
Repeat steps 5. to 10. on the next line for 'ns2' with the ns2 nameserver's IP address. It should then look something like:
ns1 14400 IN A 123.123.123.123
ns2 14400 IN A 123.123.123.124
11. Click 'Save' and wait for the page to fully load.
You are done!
