As most of you are aware we recently upgraded the Hotham Server to a new Intel Xeon server platform to increase the performance and stability of the server.
Most of you will have noticed a drastic improvement in uptime and stability on the new hardware. However we are not fully satisfied yet so we will be performing some additional upgrades.
The server will be recieving an extra Xeon 3.2Ghz processor to double the processing power of the server and we will be replacing the current 80Gb backup drives with new SATA II 160Gb drives to allow us to offer a new and imporved backup sysytem.
The new backup system will allow us to store backups each night of the week along with a weekly and monthly backup, so this means we will now have 10 seperate backups of each site.
In order to do this upgrade however we will lose the current backups of the sites and the backup system will start making new backup copies of each site immediately after the upgrade is done.
We ask everyone to ensure they have a local backup of their sites if you been making changes to your sites and feel you may need to revert to a backup
You can make local backups from within the Backup function of CPanel.
The maintenance is to be carried out this evening 9th March. A brief outage on each server will occur at this time while the hardware is switched and upgraded. I will post details when this occurs in the Hotham server announcement forum
If anyone has any queries or concerns about these upgrades please lodge a ticket at the Helpdesk and we will be happy to answer your questions
